Microsoft Game Studios is looking for a Senior Producer to work on the publishing-side of games made by our top-tier internal. This specific job opportunity is focused on our Asia region development partners.

You will work with an experienced leads team at MGS and the world-class developers to drive for success in the highly competitive and fascinating world of interactive entertainment. Executing on a game’s vision takes many traits, but above all stand teamwork, leadership and a dedication to excellence. Coordinating the efforts of close to a hundred people is a big responsibility. Creating games is fun at its core, but full of challenges different from creating productivity software. This is a hits driven business so everyone must aim high and the leadership to reach those heights is driven by the Producer.

RESPONSIBILITIES
As a new Producer in the MGS Publishing organization, you will work directly with an Executive Producer to assist with working on various titles.

A Producer in MGS Publishing has a wide range of responsibilities:
o Build a strong working relationship with the game development team and help them with any obstacles to ensure that the game is “fun” and on time. When working with our premier development partners, it is also critical to have a thorough understanding and love for the genre of games in the genre they are working on. The goal is to deliver the best games ever produced in this genre.
o Identify problems in advance and drive creative solutions to fix them.
o Lead a large cross-functional “virtual” team, including groups as diverse as: Development Team, Test, Marketing, User Experience (e.g. the UA folks), User Research (e.g. the usability folks), Localization, Business Development, web site development teams, and more.
o Work with the development team and the teams in MGS Publishing to manage the game schedule and milestones.
o Provide regular status to the various MGS teams, including conducting internal reviews with leads and MGS Management.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
o Passion for and Knowledge of Games. The first requirement is to love video games. The second is to understand what makes a great video game.
o Strong Cross-Team Communication Skills. You can talk to creatives (e.g. artists and game designers), technical people (e.g. programmers), and non-technical people (e.g. PR and Marketing) alike. When conflicts occur, you bring people together, you listen, you mitigate, and you resolve.
o Deals with Ambiguity. There is no instruction manual on how to be a great Games Producer. You use your instincts, experiences, and team to identify, assess, and solve problems quickly and frequently.
o Exceptional Organization Skills. You are detailed and organized. You never let anything fall through the cracks. You are clear, concise, and specific. When you participate in a meeting, you clarify, capture and follow up on all action items.
o Experience shipping games. You have experience shipping games through two product cycles.
o Travel. Since most of our partners are not located in the Redmond area, you can expect to make four or more trips a year. International and domestic travel is required.
o Language Proficiency. Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English is required.
